Eugenia Brin, of Hyattsville, MD, is a scientist and activist who recently retired from NASA, where she analyzed data related to climate and weather forecasting. Along with her family, she resettled in the United States with the assistance of HIAS (the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) 30 years ago, in the fall of 1979. She is now on the HIAS Board of Directors. Eli Winkelman
Eli Winkelman has been an entrepreneur for as long as she can remember, setting up lemonade stands and starting a mail service in elementary school. She often combined these works with tzedakah, donating the profits from the lemonade to her synagogue to buy prayer books, for example.
