Zev Zelenko
Monroe, New York
How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?
Generous with his time, his expertise, and his resources, his patients are treated as extended family members. He makes himself available to help them not only medically, but in whatever way(s) might be required. He planned and built a beautiful shul, Beis Medresh Shneur Zalman, which is open to all and in which everyone is made to feel at home. Zev Zelenko is an ambassador of sorts, able to find the common denominator of unity among different elements of the Jewish community, be it Satmar Chassidim, Lubavitcher Chassidim, Litvishe Yidden, religious or not, based on the fact that all Jews have a G-dly soul. Thus, we are brothers and sisters responsible for each other. This is the driving force and philosophy behind the man who is Zev Zelenko, and it manifests in his tremendous depth of Ahavas Yisroel. Erev Rosh Hashanah, he and his wife dedicated a Sefer Torah with thousands of people joyously participating in the simcha. That he is much admired and greatly beloved is very well-deserved.
How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?
Zev has impacted my life by being my son-in-law, the husband of my daughter, Sima Chana, and the father of five of my beautiful grandchildren, kein yirbu. He is also my husband's "partner." When the nascent practice was in its early planning stage, he offered my husband a position as office manager. Our decision to accept may very well be responsible for my husband's vastly improved health, B"H.
