How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?
Rabbi Kahn has devoted his life to helping Jews discover more about Judaism and Israel. Also known as "The Rugby Rabbi", Zev regularly conducts classes and programs focused on students in college campuses around Illinois. The organization has even placed a full time Rabbi on the University of Illinois campus to give students there full time access to a rabbi, mentor and guide. From hosting students for Shabbat dinner to leading trips to places such as London, South Africa and Israel, the Rabbi is has made an incredible impact on the lives of Jewish students. I have seen dozens of students who knew little to nothing about Israel or Judaism become deeply impacted by Rabbi Kahn and his organization.
How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?
Rabbi Kahn's impact upon my life has been immense. I would not be the person I am today without his time, effort and help. From learning once a week to taking me on a mind blowing trip to see South Africa's Jewish community and learn in the African bush while on Safari to seeing how his family celebrate the Sabbath, Rabbi Kahn and his family have impacted my life beyond words. I was even introduced to my wife by his wife. Today I'm an observant Jew and involved in numerous Jewish organizations all because of Rabbi Kahn's help. And I'm not alone. There are many others who I have seen impacted by Rabbi Kahn. He's a special person and truly a Jewish Community Hero.
