How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?

Tessa Gerall has become the hero for people all over the U.S. who have heard of the tragedy that affected the Berry family. She has selflessly tended to the emotional and physical needs of Peter, Aaron & Willa Berry, who lost their parents Joshua & Robin Berry; Tessa's dear friends - in a car crash during a family vacation. Tessa has been there through their recoveries from surgery, weeks of spinal cord injury rehab and the ongoing emotional support they now face as a result of losing both of their parents. Since the tragedy, Tessa has been helping Aaron and Peter, who are now paraplegic as a result of their injuries, tackle each and every day head-on. She doesn't just help the children, she provides them with ferocious attention and utmost presence: wheel chairing herself eye-to-eye with them; encouraging their achievements as much in physical therapy as on the basketball court and around the dinner table. Most importantly, she spends quality time together just hanging out, being there for them in those difficult 'in-between moments' of life that can often prove most challenging. Now that the children are back home in Houston with their legal guardians Matt & Simone Berry, Tessa will continue to be the children's angel from above, guiding them and being there for them as they adapt to their new lives.

How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?

She's the true definition of giving wholeheartedly to those in need, no matter when, where or how. Her grace, love and inspiration give us all hope for a bright future for Peter, Aaron & Willa Berry.
