Stephanie Houser

Phoenix, Arizona

How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?

Stephanie is raising funds in order to produce the movie "An Unbroken Chain", a Story of Hope and Survival. The original book is the story of Dr. Henry Oertelt of Minnesota who, with his brother survived the Holocaust. In this amazing true-life account, Henry Oertelt retraces the sequence of events that forever changed his destiny. Stephanie has worked tirelessly with survivors in the Phoenix area and has a commitment of $2 million, if she can raise the other 4. Her campaign asks for $1 per person, (or more). She has partnered with Congregation Eitz-Chaim of Phoenix to qualify as a nonprofit and the funds go into their education fund. Her website is 6mfor6m.org. When the film has been produced she intends for it to be distributed to high schools and colleges in order to educate students of this true story of Holocaust survival.

How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?

We have tried to help Stephanie in this film production by joining her at Phoenix Holocaust Survivor meetings and affairs, going to Holocaust Film Showings and tending her booth at the recent Jewish Journalist Convention in Scottsdale. We have also emailed everyone we know and shipped copies of the book to donors. She has inspired us with her selfless determination to make this movie a reality, and her devotion to all Holocaust related functions. She is absolutely dedicated to getting this movie made and she is praying it will be while Henry Oertelt is still living.
