Tell us about your nominee. Why should he or she be recognized as a Jewish Community Hero?

Stephanie has become an expert on the Holocaust. She is producing a non-profit feature film based on Dr. Henry Ortelt's book, "An Unbroken Chain." Through his lectures and book, Oertelt's story has been used in middle schools, high schools and colleges to educate students on the Holocaust and hate issues for over 40 years. Stephanie has developed a website, 6mfor6m.org for education and fund raising for the film. Stephanie speaks at Holocaust survivor events in greater Phoenix, and is working very hard to educate people, and especially young people about the Holocaust. The movie will appeal to younger people especially, by involving important movie stars with major name recognition.

What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?

Stephanie is raising '6 million for the 6 million' one dollar at a time. All contributions will be tax deductible. Her efforts at Holocaust education have already made a difference to the local Phoenix Survivors, and will hopefully affect all Jewish people everywhere. Her website, 6mfor6m.org is already being translated into French and Hebrew so that the word will spread internationally.
