Tell us about your nominee. Why should he or she be recognized as a Jewish Community Hero?
He saved a one hundred year-old institution from going into oblivion. The Shaarei Tzedek Synagogue owes its survival to Cantor Sholom Langner, who has been a loyal and faithful member for the past fifty years.
What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?
The Jewish presence in Downtown Toronto was dwindling, and heh rejuvenated it. He has many followers who have returned to Judaism.
