How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?
Paul Rein has been a champion for those battling blood cancers since he was a college student. It was long before two of his nephews would be diagnosed with leukemia and lymphoma but he felt the connection. For the past several decades, he has been running and riding and raising funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and he is now in the top 7 fundraisers in the entire country. This year he decided to rid across the country to honor his nephews and to raise funds and awareness. Every day, for 10 weeks, Paul got on his bike and rode up to 100+ miles BY HIMSELF and along the way he met many people who inspired him, but he also inspired many. He met people in every small town he rode through and many of them knew someone who had battled these diseases. Imagine working in a gas station far from any city and having a man come in for water who told you that he was riding across the country. No, he had never had these diseases but he was riding for those who had. Imagine that you could share with him that your son was one of those nameless people that he was riding for. That is one story of so many that happened this summer. Every day, someone told him that he was awesome and inspirational. He did this quietly, with no one with him and he touched so many people along the way.
