Mendel is program director for Chabad of Louisiana and does programs all across the state including organizing the historic Unity Shabbat.

What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?
New Orleans is a great Jewish Community, still its quite a task to bring people together just for the sake of unity. Mendel has accomplished this! Mendel's brainchild "Unity Shabbat", where all the Orthodox Shuls will pray and celebrate as one, is happening this Shabbat. In addition many Jews from the broader community are participating in this show of unity.
