How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?

Johnny Boyer is one of the co-founders of LA's Carlebach synagogue, the Happy Minyan. He works tirelessly to keep the minyan running. I love and admire Johnny because he really exemplifies the qualities of a tzaddik or righteous person in that he's always doing for others with true humility. Professionally, he also gives endlessly to Los Angeles' Jewish community in his duties as Young Leadership Director and Israel Independence Day Festival Coordinator for the Jewish Federation. He's one of the hardest working, kindest and warmest human beings in LA's Jewish Community.

How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?

He inspires me every time I see him or..more accurately don't him..at The Happy Minyan synagogue. I don;t see him because he's working as a volunteer non-stop behind the scenes preparing food, organizing, coordinating every aspect of the beautiful and special shul he lovingly co-founded. When he has the rare opportunity to be praying with us and he has an aliya, his prayers are so pure that I feel they go directly to Shamayim or the heavenly gates. He inspires me because he's a doer and not a talker. He does so much for others genuinely with no desire for any recognition. He's always warm and interested in every person he meets. He's someone you can really count on. He also inspires me because he shows up to almost every event hosted by members of the minyan and community. He's always walk in with a genuine smile and show of support. I don;t know how he does it, but he's a genuine unsung hero. It's my honor to sing his praises. He's taught me give freely and openly. He's always so appreciative of anyone who helps out in any way and I've learned to acknowledge the little things other people do as a result of Johnny's example. He's taught me that you create miracles by taking action and trusting the divine and giving selflessly.
