Evin has been an active volunteer for hospice and most recently as a Guardian ad litem with the 15th circuit court of Palm Beach county. He was voted Guardian of the year in 2006. As a guardian he became all too painfully aware of the lack of concern and resources for children in our society in general. In an effort to put an end to child abuse he founded and operates CAN. Child Abuse Watch. (www.abusewatch.net) Initially launching this informative website here in the US. Within 1 year he now has websites in Europe, Astralia, NewZealand with translations in Spanish, French, Italian, (soon to be in Hebrew, Russian and Portugese.) He pushes children's issues to the forefront of his news stories featured on the ButlerReport (of which he is publisher). He campaigns Washington single handedly without lobbying funds, merely with his own talent of writing. He is a David fighting a colossal Goliath. He puts in long hours in his single minded effort to bring to the public forefront a topic others find too uncomfortable to face. To "speak" for those without a voice. The site is a user friendly resource for social workers, healthcare providers, the public in general, those who are abused and in need of help....a site for all, with comprehansive resources and up to date educational resources for identifying and helping children suffering from abuse/neglect. Prevention is key and is the primary focus of abusewatch.net Evin works diligently and pushes this topic under the noses of politicians around the world, from Palm Beach to Dublin, Yemen to Brisbane.

What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?

He lobbied Hewlett Packard last year when they used a well known Pedophiles song for their "smart touch" ad campaign. He succeeded only after a world wide press release pointing out the company's indifference to using "Gary Glitter's" "Do You Wanna Touch". HP pulled the ads- but only after Evin released an open letter which was published on 3 continents. He also took a stand in recognizing the neglect of "children in reality tv." A concerted effort to have "John & Kate"'s children supervised by child advocates and a plea to TLC to place 8 lives ahead of profit. When the President of TLC ignored this plea, he again approached the channels sponsors with excetionally positive support. John & Kate was placed on hiatus after Evin's push to scrutinize the children's emotional well being. He recognizes that as a society we need to protect our children across the board, and provide them with "rights" when the adults in their lives fail them.
