Tell us about your nominee. Why should he or she be recognized as a Jewish Community Hero?
Nominator writes "I have known Dr. Margolis for a while. I knew a family who had a child with a range of medical complications including End Stage Renal Disease along with several cases of congestive heart failure. He needed special dental care and the family was uninsured. Dr. Margolis volunteered his services and also provided care for other children in the family and without payment. He has been a community advocate and has continue to provide services for other children with medical complications. He has never been commended for his service."
What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?
Dr. Margolis was a Clinical Instructor at Loyola University's Oral Health Center and has volunteer his services in the community creating a network of doctors and laser technology to avoid use of anesthetics on young patients. Most recently he provided care for a child with advance stage baby tooth decay who also had tuberculosis. The expenses exceeded over $22K after a four hour surgery with a team of over 7 doctors and nurses. He is a very kind person. A great Hero.
