What problem did your nominee identify in the community that needed to be solved? How has your nominee's efforts made a difference for others?
When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Carol already had extensive experience as a Hillel lay leader. In the traumatic months following the storm, Carol provided a source of stability, strength and comfort to the Hillel professionals and students who were dislocated and devastated. With her guidance and support, New Orleans Hillel has withstood several staff transitions. Today, New Orleans Hillel is not only larger and stronger than ever before, it is poised to open a brand new facility. None of this would have been possible without Carol’s vision, wisdom, strength, passion and compassion.
