How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?
As a senior program officer at Pursue: Action for a Just World, a project of American Jewish World Service and AVODAH, Audrey Sasson helps hundreds of Jews in their 20s and 30s organize around their collective passion for social justice. Many of these young Jews draw inspiration from Audrey's professional and personal commitment to fighting for a more equitable global food system. With Pursue and its Jewish communal partners, Audrey has produced provocative and productive programming on hunger, food sovereignty and U.S. food aid policy. In her limited free time outside of Pursue, Audrey co-founded and now helps drive Community/Farmworker Alliance NYC (CFA), a group supporting the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) as they seek to advance farmworkers' rights. Recently, Audrey and CFA have been at the forefront of CIW's national campaign demanding that Trader Joe's secures higher wages and workplace rights for the exploited farmworkers at the bottom of the grocer's supply chain. Activists like Audrey challenge all of us to carry out our Jewish values and seek justice for all.
