How is your Hero working to make the world a better place?
Every day my hero Alina works to make this world a better place. Her story is one of miraculous humanitarianism which includes adopting two Russian girls at the request of their father in order to have a better life. Her leadership in the Jewish community has included coordination of the Delet Camp program between Greensboro and Meltzy, Moldova; participation in a mental health mission to Belarus with Jewish Healthcare International; and selection as one of 17 fellows worldwide selected to take part in the first class of the Brandeis/Bronfman Institute for Informal Jewish Education. In order to fulfill her promise to herself to unify the Jewish community, Alina was instrumental in creating the American Hebrew Academy in 2001, a pluralistic Jewish private high school in Greensboro. Her unwavering dedication is evident while she coaches young people to assume their role in the future of Jewish history. In spite of her back breaking schedule, she finds time to speak across the US and Canada with words of great inspiration and passion.
How has your Hero impacted your life and inspired you?
After working with Alina for many years, she has become a dear friend as well as trusted and admired colleague. Her tireless passion and optimism for life has had a great inpact on my own. All one needs to do is spend less than 10 minutes speaking with Alina to feel engaged, empowered and grateful. Alina has literally picked me up and transformed my attitude about work, relationships and mostly, myself. Always thoughtful, always caring, always there when needed, Alina is a true hero... I know she is mine.......
